Nicolas Fusco started El Mago in honor of his Grandparents, who both passed away on June 24th, 2021, when The Champlain Towers collapsed in the middle of the night. El Mago translates to “The Wizard”, inspired by the magic his grandparents created together. The name came to be by taking the first two letters of his grandparents’ names, Maria and Gonzalo.

Pepe, what Nicolas called his grandfather, is a 6×52 box pressed Toro tubo covered in a Mexican San Andres wrapper leaf. Inside, you’ll find a USA-grown Broadleaf binder and fillers from Nicaragua.
